Diane B. O'Donnell

Philadelphia

In Loving Memory of Diane B. O'Donnell (Schweitzer) December 22, 1944 – January 6, 2025

Diane B. O'Donnell, lovingly known as Aunt Dee to her many nieces and nephews, passed away on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 80 years old.

Born on December 22, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Fred and Winifred Schweitzer, Diane was one of a kind. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a gift for making everyone feel special. She always said everything was “phenomenal,” a word that perfectly captured her outlook on life.

Diane was a graduate of Bensalem High School and worked for many years as a CNA at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center, where she cared for others with the same love and attention she gave to her own family. Summers at the Jersey Shore, especially on the Wildwood Boardwalk, were her happy place. She made so many wonderful memories there with her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her four children: Lisa Weeks (Tracey), Kelly Ann Fallon (Jim), Frank O'Donnell (Heather), and Daniel O'Donnell. Diane was the proud nana of nine grandchildren—Alyssa, Alexis (Anthony), Jimmy, Jake, Gavin, Luke, George, Deegan, and Declan—and a great-grandmother to Blake. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sisters Dolores, Winifred, and Shirley.

Diane faced many challenges in her final days, but her family was by her side every step of the way—a testament to the deep love she gave to all of them throughout her life. She will be remembered as the life of the party, a storyteller, a dancer, and above all, a devoted mother and nana who made life brighter for everyone around her.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Diane’s life during her viewing, which will be held on Saturday, January 11th, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, located at 9700 Frankford Avenue. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Diane’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org. Your generosity and support would be deeply appreciated.
