Edna Marie Smith Pickar was born on June 4, 1928 in Philadelphia, and passed onto her next life on June 27, 2016. She graced this earth for 88 years. Edna died peacefully at her home at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home.
Loving mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Edna is survived by her daughters Maureen Paul nee Pickar (Thomas) and Marie Therese Eskuchen nee Pickar (Louis), her son Leonard Pickar (Donna) and her sisters Kathleen and Claire and several nieces and nephews. Also, Edna had five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Edna was a devout Christian throughout her life, and attended St. Joan of Arc Grade School and graduated from Little Flower High School. Edna met her husband Leonard shortly thereafter and enjoyed over 55 years of married life together prior to Leonard's passing in 2008. Edna was the ultimate homemaker who raised her three children to be the wonderful people they are today.
Edna's hobbies included roller skating with the family and making costumes for the club members at Concord Skating Club. She had a great talent for creating unique patterns that stood out amongst the competitors. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. She was also a long time member of The Catholic Daughters.
Edna, you will be missed by all of those you have touched with your love and kindness.
Heaven has become a better place today.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday June 30th at 8:30 AM in the Chapel of the Immaculate Mary Nursing Home 2990 Holme Avenue. Funeral Mass will begin 9:30 AM.
