Florence Catherine Nitka

Florence Catherine Nitka (Flo), 77, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, passed away in her sleep on December 11, 2021 having spent the last several days surrounded by family and friends. She had a difficult journey controlling her diabetes before ultimately succumbing to complications.
Beloved mother of Linda Nitka Perna (Michael), proud Grandmom of Michael and Jayden, dear sister of Mildred Rychlak (Robert) and wonderful Aunt to Debbie Binczewski (Dave) and Dianne Northrop (Clay).
Flo was born on January 3, 1944 to Mildred and Edward Nitka in Philadelphia and has an older sister Mildred who always looked out for her. She graduated from Saint Huberts in 1962. After graduation, she landed her first job at First Pennsylvania Bank staying through many mergers and acquisitions to end her 40-year career with Wells Fargo. She had her only child, Linda in April 1971 and devoted her attention to raising her while still working full time. She was excited to have the opportunity to retire early so she could babysit her 1st grandson, Michael, upon his arrival in April of 2002. Her 2nd grandson, Jayden, was born in July 2008 and by that time she knew exactly the toys and activities to keep little boys happy and entertained.
Flo enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and bingo, and taking bus trips with her Seniors groups, where she watched plays, visited wineries, and tried her luck at the slots in Atlantic City, and of course, enjoyed the buffet luncheons. She was never picky when it came to food, enjoying all types of restaurants and always eager to try the newest ones. With family and friends, she was always flexible and would go with the flow. She loved hearing her grandson Jayden play the electric bass or guitar and enjoyed hearing all about Michaels adventures at Penn State, instantly becoming an avid Penn State football fan. She attended every school concert, Halloween parade, and any event that the grandchildren participated in. She enjoyed visiting Longwood Gardens and the Flower Shows with the family. Her favorite trip was celebrating her 75th birthday at the Atlantis in the Bahamas where she enjoyed the aquarium, great food but most of all spending time with the family. She also found great pride in supporting various charities. We will miss her greatly but know she will always be with us in our hearts and alive in our memories.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral on Monday December 27th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA. Her funeral mass will begin at 11:30 AM and interment will follow at Union Cemetery, 209 Almshouse Road, Richboro, PA. A luncheon will follow at La Stalla Restaurant, 18 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by her family.
