Francis G. Kauterman
1939-2024
Beloved husband of Jacqueline (nee DeFrancesco) for 64 years. Devoted father of Mark Kauterman (Barbra), Kelly Wintersteen (Mark), Craig Kauterman (Karen), proud grandfather of Devon Smith (Dan), Wade Wintersteen (Shelby), Taylor Forrest (Jack), Julia Kauterman (Mike), and Corey Kauterman. Great grandfather of Blair Smith, Aubrey Smith, Ava Smith, Cameron Banes, Benjamin Forrest. Dear brother of Eleanor Ott (Gene), Elaine Dunphy (Bill), Bernadette Laffey (Franny) Elizabeth Newman (Jim), Teresa Deegan Costello (David) Dennis Kauterman (Terri). Brother-in law of Louis DeFrancesco and Claire DeFrancesco. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear cousins and friends.
Francis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Port Richmond and married the love of his life, Jacqueline and had three children together. The family moved to the Wissinoming area where they raised their three children.
He proudly worked in the Graphic Arts business for most of his life. He was a self-taught man, avid reader, and lifelong learner. He loved the game of soccer and never missed an opportunity to watch a game or cheer at a grandchild’s match. He coached his own independent team, “The Strikers", for many years, helping players to grow both on and off the field. Always known as a friend to many, he could always be counted on for a listening ear and strong words of encouragement.
Francis was adored beyond measure by his children and grandchildren. Not a day went by there wasn’t a phone call, a FaceTime, or a visit to our beloved Pop. His wisdom was invaluable and his ability to make you laugh and smile unmatched. Pop prioritized family and enjoying the little things- music, dancing, a good joke. Spending summer in Wildwood Crest was one of the many highlights of the year for him. He could always be found sitting on the beach, in his rocking chair or with a grandchild by his side. Happy hour always featured his signature cocktail, “The Pop-tini”.
Francis was a 16-year cancer survivor and was considered a true warrior by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, July 11, 2024, 10AM to 11 AM in St. Andrews Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd Newtown, PA 18949. Funeral Mass will begin 11 AM.
