Frederick J. Welsh, a beloved husband to the late Diane, devoted father to Dawn and Frederick “Ricky” (Crystal), and treasured “Pop Pop” to Joseph, Jenna, and Liam, as well as an admired brother and valued uncle, passed away peacefully in his home on April 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
A true survivor and determined soul, Frederick faced his years-long battle with cancer with extraordinary bravery and grace, exhibiting a strength that impacted those around him tremendously.
Fred was known for his outgoing and humorous personality—always going out of his way to put a smile on someone’s face. He was truly a hard-working man who provided gracefully for his children and grandchildren. As a husband, he nurtured and supported his wife in sickness and in health, providing unwavering loyalty and patience even in the toughest of times. As a father, he shared countless lessons and imparted meaningful wisdom to his children and those around him, offering the tools for a strong foundation. As a “Pop Pop”, he cherished and cared for his grandchildren as if they were his own, often attending father-daughter dances and rugby games to show his love and support. In his pastime, Fred loved to travel to Cape May with his late wife, enjoyed listening to music by bands and musicians like The Beatles, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Phil Collins, and Meatloaf with his family, and watching his favorite sports team, the Chicago Bears. He often reminisced about his time coaching with the Wissinoming Boys Club, where he not only taught sports to the community but also helped shape their character and provided a loving parental figure to those who lacked one.
Frederick’s legacy is one of strength, kindness, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his teachings and find comfort in the many ways he touched their lives.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA, in honor of his enduring spirit, compassion, and extraordinary love for his wife.
