Wildwood Crest

Gennaro (Jerry) Pellegrini, Sr, (84), of Wildwood Crest, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, with his daughter Kim by his side. Gennaro, fondly known as Jerry, was born to Anthony and Angelina (Lucano) Pellegrini on June 27, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA. He grew up in the Port Richmond section of Philly where he helped at the family Butcher shop. After graduation he proudly served is country as a member of the United States Army from 1961–1963. After his military service he became a truck driver for Teamster’s local 107 from 1963–1976. In May of 1976 Dad entered the Philadelphia Police Academy and upon graduation proudly served his city and community until his retirement in 2002. At which time he and mom moved to Wildwood Crest, NJ. Dad wasn’t one to just sit and relax so he went to work for Wildwood Crest public works doing different jobs for them over the years with the last job being cleaning and racking the beach in the early hours of the morning getting it ready for all those beach lovers to enjoy. Jerry’s loving spirit is carried on by his daughters, Dana and husband Timothy Shearon and Kim Pellegrini; his grandchildren, Timothy Shearon, Jr, Caitlin and husband Alex Roche and Paul Petaccio; his siblings, Theresa Wahl, Anthony and wife Cindy Pellegrini and Denise and husband Howard Kravitz; and his beloved companion Wanda Bryant. Preceding him in peace were his loving wife of 45 years Edith (DeFiore) Pellegrini, his son Gennaro (Jerry) Pellegrini, Jr, and his parents Anthony and Angelina (Lucano) Pellegrini. Jerry held many titles in his life, from soldier, truck driver, police officer, roofer, cement layer...but his favorites were, husband, father, grandfather. The pride and love he showed us will never be forgotten and because of that our lives are that much richer. Gennaro (Jerry) Pellegrini, Sr, 1940-2025. The first year is of birth the second year is of death but what matters the most is the (-) dash between them. For the dash represents all the time Jerry spent alive on earth and now only those who loved him know what that little line is worth. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. His funeral mass and burial will be held privately. Arrangements by McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations of Philadelphia, John Barnes Supervisor, 215.620.9123.
