PRUYN, Howard Clayton of Royersford, PA and Sun Valley, CA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA.

Died on September 1, 2015, in Burbank, CA.

He was the son of Howard Case Pruyn and Gertrude Wheeler Pruyn Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis McKenna Pruyn; two sons, Glenn (Laura) Pruyn of Elkins Park, PA and Scott Pruyn of Doylestown, PA; daughter, Colleen (Tom) Henneberry and grandson, Kevin McKenna Henneberry of Los Angeles, CA.

Also survived by his brothers, Richard (Barbara) Pruyn of Phoenixville, PA,and Kenneth (Emily) Pruyn of Bedford, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard grew up in Frankford in his family's ball-bearing business He was President of Pruyn Bearings on North Broad St. in Phila. until 1993 when it became part of BDU, Inc.

In 1973, he founded and operated the Diving Bell Scuba Shop, next door to Pruyn Bearings.Howard was a NAUI and PADI SCUBA Instructor for over 40 years, and trained many area divers. He especially enjoyed cold-water diving in the local lakes (quarries) and boat-diving in the Atlantic Ocean. He dove throughout the Caribbean, and as far away as Truk Lagoon in Micronesia. Howard was a proud member of the Phila. SeaHorses Dive Club which survives today, meeting monthly at Scubadelphia Dive Shop in NE Phila.

Due to failing health, he split his time during the past four years between the Phila. area in the Spring and Fall, while spending the winters and summers in Southern California.

A memorial service to celebrate Howard's life is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2015, from 4 to 8 pm at Scubadelphia, 7714 Castor Ave., Phila., PA 19152. Bring your memories and pictures to share with his family and friends.
