Irene Aleszczyk

ALESZCZYK, Irene (nee Szafranski)

On May 3, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Leonard. Loving mother of Diane Cougle (Gary), Richard, Doreen Howley (Dave), Cheryl Kilbride (Tom), Cynthia Murphy (Ken), David (Rhonda); devoted Gram to her grandchildren: Jason (Colleen), Nicole, Matthew (Meghan), Ryan, Colin, Quincey; great-grandchildren Cailin, RitaJean, and Jackson; also survived by her sisters, Theresa (Jack), Helene, and brother, Ron (Maddie), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Renee was the most loving, caring and generous woman who loved life and left a lasting impression on all she met. She was loved deeply by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by many.

After graduating from Nazareth Academy in 1951, Renee worked as a filing and typing clerk at Fine Arts Sterling Silver Co., before moving on to become the Secretary to the President of Newton Elkin, a prestigious company in Philadelphia, where they made Newton Elkin and Pandora shoes, sold at John Wanamaker's and elite NY stores. Renee was able to drive a manual stick shift on the steering column on a 1954 Studebaker, which was uncommon for women at that time.

Renee married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, on May 29, 1954 and they were together for 62 years. As noted above, they raised a large family, which was her main calling. Renee was a wonderful wife, loved mother, creative homemaker as well as office manager and bookkeeper for The Chateau, for over 40 years. Renee and her family spent many happy years at their vacation home in the Poconos, often playing games and puzzles or enjoying the outdoors. Through the years, Renee and Lenny traveled quite a bit across the US and abroad, embracing culture. Later in life, she enjoyed many trips to Wildwood with the ocean breeze and sun on her face.

Renee was an active parishioner at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church these many years. Friends came to her for advice and she seemed to always know the right thing to say and was willing to share her compassion and wisdom.

Services will be private due to the current health emergency. A memorial gathering and Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church: 5600 Jackson St Philadelphia, PA 19124.
