Joan Cook (ne Woltjen) passed away suddenly on December 16th, 2019 at age 61, surrounded by her devoted husband of 40 years, Bill, and her loving children, Bill (Janet), Bridget, and Kristin (Hazem). She was the perfect Nanny to her grandchildren Jackson, Lucy May Lovebug, and Ella Bella and will be heartfully missed by her mother Joan, and her siblings Tom (Dina), Jacquelyn Hennessy (Bob), Bill (Sartre), Bob (Christine) and Michelle Glynn (Tim) and in-laws Anne Kearney (Jim), Eileen Cook and her many nieces and nephews. Joan was born to proud parents Joan and Tom Woltjen on November 26, 1958. She attended Nativity B.V.M. and was a graduate of Hallahan High School, class of 1976. Joan was born and raised in Port Richmond, where she leaves an amazing family of friends. Joan's "crowd" will miss her smile and infectious charm. Joan was proud to be a Whalen cousin and will be sadly missed by her extended loving family including the Foxes, Farrells, Bargulls, Lees, Whalens, Kearneys and Cooks. Joan took great pride in being a godparent and an Aunt to her nieces and nephews and their shared bond will be forever treasured. Joan's co-workers at Boscov's department store where Joan worked for over 25 years will miss her dedication, compassion, and stories about her grandchildren. Joan made her house a home to every person who passed through her doors in Port Richmond, Springettss Manor, York, Bridesburg, and the Villas. Joan was most happy surrounded by her favorite people! The memories she shared with Bill, the love of her life for over 40 years started with the first kiss on New Year's Eve of 1977. They were married on November 2, 1979 and she soon began the best job of her life, being a mom. In the coming years, Joan and Bill welcomed three amazing children, Billy, Bridget, and Kristin. Their adventure of parenthood brought much joy, laughter, and the occasional tears. Their life journey enabled them to form lasting friendships with people from Springett's Manor to Cape May. Watching her children grow up to be caring, loving, successful, kind adults was Joan's most proud accomplishment. The culmination of joy in her heart was the birth of her beautiful grandchildren. The memories Joan gave to everyone will always be treasured by those who so loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to Joan's viewing on Friday December 20th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Saturday December 21st from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM in Nativity BVM Church 2535 E. Allegheny Avenue.
