Joseph A. "Joe" Joniec passed suddenly on July 6, 2021. Awesome husband of Beth (Waldron). The proudest girl dad of Kirstie McGugan (Patrick) and Kelsey. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Marie (Zalot) Joniec. Brother of Ken Joniec and Kathy Benner (Joe). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Son in law to Tom and Eileen (deceased) Waldron. Brother in law to Tom and MaryBeth Waldron. Dog dad to Brogan and George to his grandpup Hudson. Honorary dad to Kirstie and Kelsey's friends. Joe was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades DC 21/Local 2011 for over 37 years. Joe was also the wallcovering instructor for the Finishing Trades Institute.
Joe loved life, his family, friends, Disney, String Bands and music. Under the guidance of his parents the band The Exceptions was formed. Joe played drums for The Exceptions for over 25 years. After leaving The Exceptions he formed the band Masquerade. He loved nothing more than giving people joy and fun playing music for them. He always said the greatest compliment he could ever get was that people's feet hurt at the end of Masquerade's night. The people he played music with became his family. He loved nothing more than Saturday nights with his Masquerade family - his girls and his brothers.
Winter time meant Mum time. Wednesday nights and Sundays with the men of Quaker City String Band were priceless to him. Marching on Broad Street alongside his friends always brought a smile to his face, but spending time with his girls on 2 Street was always the highlight of New Years Day.
If it wasn't music keeping Joe busy you could always find him at the DC 21 Union Hall or the Training Center teaching, mentoring or hanging wallpaper. Joe was one busy guy for sure, but his family was always priority one for him! If he wasn't working you could find him on the beach or at Disney with his favorite people. He enjoyed nothing more than hanging with his family, his friends, his girls and their many friends listening to the live music of one of his fellow musicians bands.
For those that knew him he was never more than a phone call away to help you with whatever you needed.
We hope you will join us in remembering his life, sharing your stories and smiling. We will miss you George.
