Joseph Verello (Mr. V), 77, died on June 10th surrounded by his "second to none" family and his angel on earth Barbara. Joe was born on September 24, 1943 to Pascale and Mary Verello in Philadelphia. He treasured his relationship with his sister Dee. Joe was super proud of his family and loved celebrating life events. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, children Lisa(Dave), Linda(Anthony), Joseph(Nicole) and Nicholas(Shannan). Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren David, Anthony, Nikolas, Gabriella, Dominic, Luca, Ella, Lana, Nicholas, Nicole, Shelly and great grandchildren Sienna, Skyla and Harper. He is also survived by his sister Dolores and brother-in-laws Joe and Bruce, nephew Joseph and nieces Maria and late Annette. Joe's life mirrored his favorite artist, Frank Sinatra, he did it his way and lived in the moment. Joe enjoyed working at the Philadelphia Inquirer and retired in 2007. He would always be the first to join in a toast (Chin Don) to honor a family member or lifelong friend. Joe was a big fan of Philly sports (Phillies, Eagles and Flyers) and he was a Sunday regular watching the game with the boys. He had a passion for baseball and was the Phillies' biggest fan. His love of the game extended beyond watching the Phillies to coaching kids on the fundamentals of baseball. Mr. V was everyone's favorite coach. Joe enjoyed some of life's simple pleasures like eating cheesesteaks, Reens hoagies, wings and having a cold Budweiser with his crabs (nobody cleaned a crab like Joe). His accent was distinct and his choice of words was equally as creative. Some of his most famous sayings are: that's an 8 by 10, second to none, punkerson, dhat dhere and all, holy jeez, in left field without a glove, and you're not even in the ballparkpal. All are welcome to celebrate Joe's life on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Saint Anselm Church 12670 Dunks Ferry Road. Viewing hours are 9:30AM to 11AM followed by mass at 11AM and burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
