Maria was born April 11,1977 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Our beloved Maria, peacefully departed this earthly life on Jan 9, 2018. She was a child of ten Siblings. She was born to the beloved Ramon Antonio Lugo- Castillo & Betty Louella Lugo. Her sister (Tammy) Laura Ortiz preceded her in death.
Maria received her formal education from the Philadelphia School Systems, In her early adult life Maria held Various jobs, She worked for Forman Mills, Fudruckers, American Paratransit & Metro Mobility. She worked as a EMT from 2003 until her health failed her Christmas Day of 2015. Maria loved being an EMT at Romed Ambulance. Her joy was helping people and spending time with family, Daughter Destinee Lugo (Ron), Son John Garcia Jr, and especially watching Hallmark Channel with her Mom Betty.
Maria had an outgoing personality and had no problems speaking her mind. She loved baking, she loved listening to Freestyle Club Music & Spanish Music especially Calle 13 and Vico C. Her favorite color was Lilac, her favorite T.V show was The Walking Dead, she was an avid for Horror/Christmas Movie's, Christmas was also her favorite holiday. However Maria most enjoyable moments were being with family, especially with her Sister Linda, her Brother Spanky, Daughter Destinee, Son John-John, her Niece/God Daughter Lilyana, Also Great Niece Sianni & Sister in law Siobhan. The past Year and 6 Months Maria moved in with her Sister Linda & Brother in law Trey. She loved the serenity of living with her sister who spoiled her and took great care of her.
Maria leaves to Celebrate her life and carry on her memories: Her Daughter Destinee Lugo (Ron), Son John Garcia Jr, Five Sisters: Ada Gutierrez (Hugo), Linda Lugo-Swedenburg (Trey), Rosa Lugo, Virgen (Luis) and the late Laura Ortiz (Pep), Five Brothers: Idel Lugo (Late Merna), Ramon Lugo (Late Evelyn), Tony, Salvador Lugo (Siobhan), & Miguel Perez (Moya), One special cousin Liz, and a host of Nieces/Nephews, Great Nieces/Nephews, Lots of Cousins, Aunts, and many friends and close Co-workers. She had two best friends who never turned their backs on her and always was there for her. Porsha Canada her partner in crime in the Ambulance Field & Crystal Roman
Lovingly Submitted, The Family. Relatives, friends, and co workers from Romed Ambulance, where she was a dedicated EMT, are invited to gather on Saturday January 20th from 1 PM to 2 PM at the McCafferty-Sweeney Funeral Home 6126 Torresdale Avenue.
