Raymond Oczkowski, age 83 of Philadelphia born to eternal life on January 31, 2022. Loving husband of 55 years to Dorothy J. Oczkowski (nee Skiba), devoted father to Maria Oczkowski Viola (Anthony) and Raymond J. Oczkowski (Christine), beloved grandfather to Anthony (Jennifer) and Kevin Viola (Kiley Schranze) and Joseph Oczkowski. Great Grandfather to newly arrived Ellie Rose Viola. Ray was a lifelong devoted Catholic who was a Graduate of St John Cantius School, North Catholic High School '56 and LaSalle University '67. Ray was a resident of Port Richmond for over 55 years. Faithful parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians, now St. John Paul II Parish in Port Richmond. Longtime supporter and former President of Family and Friends of Holy Family University. Ray's first job at the age of 16 was working at the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club. He served our country in the United States Air Force. Ray spent the majority of his accounting and auditing career working 20 years for the City of Philadelphia Dept of Health and Human Services. He retired in 2016 followed by part time employment at the Police Athletic League (PAL) Headquarters. He enjoyed watching the Bridesburg Memorial Day Parade, feeding the birds in his yard, using the computer to keep in touch with family and friends and making personalized photo cards. He loved spending time with his family. Ray was always proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved to celebrate their accomplishments in an annual Christmas newsletter. Ray was a huge fan of all of his grandchildren's sports especially being able to watch all of his grandson Joey's TCNJ college baseball games. His family takes comfort in knowing he will continue to watch over them from heaven and is grateful for all the time they spent together. He left them with everlasting memories. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday February 5th from 9 AM to 11 AM at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations 6126 Torresdale Avenue, and to his funeral Mass 11:30 AM in St. Adalbert Church.
