Richard Aleszczyk, aka, Ricky or Owen passed away on April 25, 2023. He was the dear son of the late Leonard and Irene Aleszczyk.Ricky grew up across from Devro playground, attended St. Barts and graduated from North Catholic in '74. He was well known by everyone in Wissinoming, Tacony and beyond. Ricky loved to socialize. Some of his mainstays were the Comly Cafe, Doug's, Fatheads, The Load, Rauchets...the list goes on. He had a knack for giving people nicknames, most of which stuck with them for a lifetime. He himself also was known as Owen and Hammer. So turnabout was fair play.Ricky was well-rounded as a paperboy for The Bulletin. He played the saxophone and clarinet. When it came to work, Ricky's early endeavors took him to Florida. Upon returning to Philly he went to refrigeration school and began working for Mrs. Paul's, eventually ending up at ThermoKing.Ricky's love for the outdoors were evident. He helped build the family home in the Poconos and that's where he became a hunter. He would go up every weekend to hunt or fish and hang out with more new friends at the Jonas. Ricky's ability to archery and rifle hunt landed him some monster bucks. He would fish wherever he could; ocean charters, Lake Ontario, Pennypack, Wissahickon, the Delaware, etc.Ricky loved his German Shepherds. It all started with Wolf. There was also Rommel, Panzer, Trooper, Gunner and Jagger.He was passionate about riding his Harley 85 Low Rider. Many trips to Daytona, the Poconos, the Pinelands, the shore and all through Bucks Countywherever his riding pals went. Ricky never forgot a name or a face. He had a great memory. He made a lifetime of great friends. He loved to tell stories He was known for his ""Home-Maders"", and had MANY of them. Ricky was truly a one of a kind son, brother and uncle who has been loved by everyone and is already greatly missed.Loving brother of Diane Cougle (Gary), Doreen Howley (David), Cheryl Kilbride (Thomas), Cynthia Murphy (Ken), David Aleszczyk (Rhonda), devoted uncle of Nicole Cougle; Ryan Aleszczyk, Colin Aleszczyk, Matthew Kilbride, Quincey Kilbride, and the late Jason Cougle. Great uncle of Cailin, RitaJean and Jackson Cougle and Isla Kilbride. Also deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, many 1st and 2nd cousins on both the maternal and paternal sides.Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday evening May 3rd from 6 PM to 8 PM at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations, 6126 Torresdale Avenue and Thursday morning May 4th from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in St. Bartholomew's Church 5600 Jackson Street. (Please use the Cheltenham Avenue driveway to enter the church parking lot). Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 AM and interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
