Russell Elmer Keifrider was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world to be with his heavenly Father on March 6, 2025, at age 94, surrounded by family, with the loving care of Ennoble Hospice, while residing at Woolwich Gardens Assisted Living.
Russell was born to Clarence and Nancy (Hoholiak) Keifrider on January 10, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from high school, he began his career as a typesetter before serving his country in the Korean War, as a medic, from 1950-1952. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Russell married his beloved wife, Dolores Anna (Mirsch) Keifrider on October 23, 1954. Together, they raised four children: Kathy, Thomas, Paul, and David.
Russell’s dedication and commitment to his family never wavered. In addition to a career working full-time during evening hours as a professional typesetter, Russell also worked part-time during the day to further support his family.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, who he was married to for more than 64 years. He is survived by his children, Kathy Googins and her husband, Dave, Windham, Maine; Tom and his wife Theresa Keifrider, Salem, NJ; Paul and his wife Victoria Barnes, Merchantville NJ, and David and his husband Daniel Martz, Easton, MD. Russell is lovingly remembered by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Woolwich Gardens Assisted Living and Ennoble Hospice for their compassionate care during Russell’s final days.
Family and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday March 11th from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception BVM Roman Catholic Church, located at 606 West Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Rev. Joseph E. Howarth will officiate Russell’s 10:30 AM Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 3301 W. Cheltenham Avenue, 19150.
In lieu of flowers, donations to any of the following charities or a charity of your choice, or one involving healthcare or health research would be greatly appreciated by his family.
